Cesare Vs Disorder – Mean Land

Si on grogne contre les délires deep minimal, c’est juste pour placer la barre bien haut en attendant la prochaine claque. Voici mon premier coup de coeur zéro-neuf. Alors rendons à César ce qui est à César et continuons à vous épater avec notre sens du jeu verbal. Situons, aussi. Cesare Vs Disorder, Cesare Marchese de son vrai nom, c’est une de ces figures emblématiques de la scène deep minimal Londonienne. Prolifique, Cesare produit aussi sous les alias Queen Atom et Sire Cactus, et sort ses tracks sur son label Mean et aussi Dumb Unit, Resopall, et Archipel. D’habitude peu sensible à son univers sombre minimal, je dois remercier Onirik de m’avoir fait écouter ce Mean Land. C’est relativement deep. C’est relativement minimal. C’est super catchy et audacieux, surtout le coup de la seule note de guitare et du sample d’orgue house bien discret. Bref, c’est de la bombe, et ça sortira d’ici Avril sur Thema.

OK, this year we’re not big fans of the whole deep minimal vibe, it has past its prime. This just means the next big tune needs to raise the bar higher and reach some new level in order to get us hooked. So, well done Cesare Vs Disorder, because Mean Land is one of my very favourite tracks this year. Those unfamilliar with Cesare Vs Disorder aka Sire Cactus aka Queen Atom should keep an eye out for him this year. He usually releases on Dumb Unit, Resopall, Archipell and his own label Mean and its safe to say he is one of the driving forces behind the deep minimal scene in London. Cheers to Onirik for playing this track out to me. Yes, it’s kind of deep. Yes, it’s minimal is some respect. But what is sure is that it is very catchy, and pretty audacious. Love the single guitar string note and the elusive house organ sample. What a tune! Set to be released by April on Thema.

Kenny Fitz – To The Top

Après avoir interviewé Sneak je me suis interessé à ces nouveaux producteurs de house comme TBF ou…Kenny Fitz. Ici ce qui compte c’est l’efficacité plutôt que l’innovation. L’Irlandais remplit le contrat avec ce Top The Top tout à fait conforme aux normes jackin’ en vigeur, unreleased pour l’instant. Un producteur que tous mes house gangsters surveilleront de près, donc.

After my Sneak Interview, I checked out a few up and coming pure house producers like TBF or…Kenny Fitz. Clearly, we’re after quality grooves relying on tried and tested formulas rather than progressive innovations. The Irishman ticks all right boxes for a jackin’ accreditation with To The Top, which is unreleased as I write these words. Yet another producer out there my house gangsters should keep in mind.

Vous savez bien qu’ici c’est pas (la) Justice, c’est la Punition. Mais je suis obligé de faire un piqûre de rappel car je sens que trop sont passés à côté du Somewhere Around Tristram EP signé Okain & Thomas Muller, c’est-à-dire passés à côté d’une des meilleurs releases de l’année jusqu’à présent. Les deux autres tracks butent, mais I Tele U Bo bute encore plus. Je vous fais confiance pour régulariser votre situation.

No Justice here, only Punishment, you get me? However, I feel like I need to do something about Okain & Thomas Muller’s Somewhere Around Tristram EP. It’s fantastic and deserves more attention. It’s groovy as hell and has a wicked, freaky vibe to it. I Tele U Bo is my fave track there, but the others are brilliant too, check em’ out.

Mass Prod – Sunset (Livio & Roby remix)

Impossible de passer à côté Livio & Roby depuis la fin 08. Avec leur compatriote Ali Nasser, ils font partie de ces producteurs Roumains qui brillent en ce moment. Leurs doubles EP sur Cecille Numbers et Fumakilla sont tout à fait recommandables, mais j’ai preféré dénicher une perle plus rare pour vous, comme ce remix de Mass Prod. Impossible de ne pas penser aux meilleurs moments d’un set de Villalobos avant que la k ne prenne le dessus avec ce groove bouncy, ces sons organiques et cette voix hallucinée.

Hard not to notice Livio & Roby these days. Alongside fellow countryman Ali Nasser, they sure are fine exponents of the Romanian sound. Their double EPs on Cecille Numbers and Fumakilla are worth checking out, but I think you guys deserve something more off the beaten track, like this remix for Mass Prod. Listening to it with its bouncy groove, proper instrument sounds and trippy voice is definitely reminiscent of the best moments in a Villalobos set before the k hits.

Fabrice Lig – Cosmic Booty

Trop souvent les noms de Détroit, Chicago, Berlin, etc. sont invoqués en vain afin d’appâter le chaland alors que la liaison entre ces sons bien particuliers et un maxi générique est souvent tirée par les cheveux. Mais on sait bien que certains artistes, comme le Belge Fabrice Lig, ont tout compris au délire Motor City. Sur ce beat J-Dillesque, les mélopées synthétiques et organiques ont la place de s’exprimer pleinement, pour former ce beau morceau très Détroit aux influences hip-hop et soul.

Too often are the names of Detroit, Chicago, Berlin, etc. used in vain in order to attrack attention. Most of the time the links between these highly distinctive sounds and a generic dance EP are far-fetched, uh-huh. Yet, we all know some artists like Belgian Fabrice Lig have got their Motor City perspectives right. This J-Dillesque beat gives space for synths and organs to express themselves fully, and at the end you get a lovely hip-hop and soul influenced techno track.
