Bearweasel, c’est un duo formé par les sympathiques Anglais Dean Muhsin et Louisa Page, tous deux publicistes de musique électronique.

C’est à la mi-2008 que j’ai commencé à m’intéresser à eux, grâce à des sorties de qualité aux remixes efficaces, sur des labels comme Supernature, Tsuba et 8bit. Le duo mise sur la qualité plutôt que la quantité et distille un son house mûr et rond en bouche, vraiment laidback, ni trop dur ni trop mou, juste bien groovy comme il faut. Steve Bug, Akufen, Serafin, D’Julz, Motorcitysoul, 2000AndOne, Jimpster, Audiofly, Steve Lawler, Trickski, Sebo K, Lauhaus, Luke Solomon et Peace Division auront aussi été conquis.

En attendant leur live prévu pour la fin de l’année, savourez-donc ce mix concocté par Dean, c’est truffé de grooves imparables à 121 BPM, et pour moi la BO de nombreux afters à venir.

Thanks to a handful of quality EPs with great remixes on labels such as Supernature, 8bit and Tsuba, I first became aware of their sound at some point mid-2008. Clearly, these two are privileging quality over quantity, and have developed a distinctive sound. It’s mature, definitely on the house side of things, laidback yet bouncy, so it’s neither too soft or too hard, but properly groovy. Steve Bug, Akufen, Serafin, D’Julz, Motorcitysoul, 2000AndOne, Jimpster, Audiofly, Steve Lawler, Trickski, Sebo K, Lauhaus, Luke Solomon and Peace Division seem to share my opinion too; they’ve supported the duo’s releases so far.

So, until the end of the year, when their live set should be ready, you’d be a fool not to listen to Dean’s set, a 121 BPM affair of the utmost distinction filled with quality grooves. It’s bound to become one of my afterhours’ soundtracks, that’s for sure.

    ce sont les gens qui font de la com pour les labels auprès de la presse pour qu’on parle des sorties à venir à grands coups de promo sheets ultra élogieuses où chaque track est une tuerie, influencé par les meilleurs pour atteindre des sommets fulgurants etc etc….RP quoi.

    Love love love this mix,

    It’s got afterhours written all over it for me. Reminds me of happy, albeit rather fucked, times :)

    That Afrilounge mix is so indicative of the sound i’m digging at the moment.
