Does Seth Troxler still need an introduction? During the last couple of years, the Detroit-area artist has smoothly transitioned from an unknown newcomer’s shoes to those of a recognized talent. His releases sure ain’t sporadic but they do hit the spot for DJs, dancefloors and anyone caught in between (like you, reader).
On the live side of things his sets reek of ‘decadance’, too dark to be camp, but definitely sexy and twisted, with constant nods to old school house and techno. That voracious mustachioed intoxicated womanizer persona he’s been cultivating fits his sound, no doubt.
I first present you with Seth’s latest release on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint. Deep, floaty, sensual and snareless for the most part, its reduced groove will keep you movin’.
Then comes the pièce de resistance. You know alter-ego projects are commonplace in electronic music, they enable producers to explore new ideas without upsetting legions of online freaks and club snobs.
This is when Sex Trothler cums in. A glance on the Wagon Repair promo sheet will make you avert your eyes in disgust, or it might excite certain zones in that body of yours but hopefully it will do both at the same time and confuse you deep down on the true nature of your inner desires.
In a nutshell, Sex Trothler gives a musical dimension to the voracious mustachioed intoxicated womanizer, setting a new standard in the “twisted sexual electronic dance music” department. Jus Your, with Baby Prince on the vox is infectious. That synth line is sticky like man-juice and dare I say it might be equally hard for you to get it out of your head, coz that irresistible drum programming is there to keep it groovin all nite long, kiddo.
I’m not going to say I haven’t been this turned on since I last popped a Prince record on the 1210’s but you get my point: I want more Sex Trothler releases and I confess, I do think about how sexciting it would feel to dance on a Sex Trothler set.
