Probably the best track on his new LP. It’s no secret that Martin Buttrich gives Dice a hand when it comes to producing tunes. This track is the best of both worlds: Loco Dice’s flair for groove is efficiently harnessed by Buttrich’s studio skills. Add those tasty pimpin’ vocals on top, and you get some quintessential reduced gangsta house (s)hit, a one-way dancefloor/mean streets of Brooklyn ticket and last but not least a perfect set-opener to remind all them fools who’s boss.

Deep, up-beat and with the perfect balance of organic and synthetic touches. Who cares if frenchie Chris Carrier kind of looks like an albino snowboard raver? Groove and deepness à la Robsoul are always winners in my book, kids.

TWO ARMADILLOS Hamlin (Sascha Dive’s Secret Dub Mix)

If Two Armadillos represent some of London’s finest neo-deep house, then Sascha Dive is their Frankfurt counterpart, no doubt. So when one remixes the others, it’s bound to be rewarding. Pretty ‘bassy and percussive’, Hamlin’s groove is irresistible, and it has some nice vocal harmonies, in the style of influential Villalobos and Kabale & Liebe tracks released a few months back.

A random discovery and what a pleasant suprise! I’ve been rinsing this one for a while and am far from being bored of it. Boman is a Swedish new-comer with only a handful of releases. Brew is an overlwheming roller-coaster for peak-time dancefloor emotional explosion. It’s groovy, melodic and definitely on the druggy side of things. I’m not so fond of his newer stuff (still on OurVision), let’s hope we’ll get more Brew-styled gems from Boman in the foreseable future!

MATHEW JONSON Marionette (Adam Beyer remix)

Oh Marionette… Definitely a naughties techno classic. All in all, it’s “just” a psychedelic arpeggio repeated over and over, but that melody is just haunting and just unforgettable. The original could be quite tricky to mix, so Adam Beyer’s remix is a more than welcome update. The Swede’s signature beats are coupled with Jonson’s melody and the result is very catchy and super-phat. This is a vertical ascension to dancefloor seventh-heaven, a case in point when it comes to claiming the transcendental potential of music for the mind. This is just the kind of crazy shit we’re into around here, and that’s real conversation for your ass, so recognize (and pass to Daz).
