Don’t let grainy black and white mugshots such as this one fool you, there is more to Boris Brejcha than your standard sunglasses-at-night German techno producer. In times where quantification takes its toll on creativity, any artist able to make some heads nod and some asses shake without relying on orthodox conventions deserves their Get The Curse post of fame.
Hailing from Frankenthal, Western Germany, Boris has been releasing music on Autist and Harthouse since 2006. Despite the very un-politically correct name, Autist has been one of my favourite underground labels of the year, with some really nice bouncy and bassy releases from Jitzu & Sire G, Dr Nojoke and finally Boris Brejcha and his female alter ego Anna. After a few succesful releases such as the rough minimal anthem Schwarzes Gold using the Anna monicker, Boris releases an album on Harthouse digital.
What I like about this artist is his abrasive and jagged sound. He doesn’t shy away from all sorts of freaky samples and druggy effects. It’s powerful and often bouncy, and it fits very well under the Electronic Body Minimal tag if you ever feel the urge to pigeonhole it. However, this doesn’t mean Boris can’t deal with song structure or progression. On the contrary, you will see that as the sequences come and go, tracks really progress from harsh minimal beats to something a bit more sophisticated than what you first expected.
In a way this is the perfect opposite to the clean-shaved, ultra formated, linear and sometimes generic house and techno that we are so used to, but ironically it achieves the same effect; chiefly people gurning happily ever after and waving their hands in the air like they just don’t care. Let’s hope some of his fucked-up tunes will make their way to important DJ bags and wreak havoc on dancefloors around the globe.

As I think nobody knows here, that Boris is one of the most talented electronic music producers meanwhile worldwide.. and because of the picture :-) he is also such a cute guy that every lovely girl would love to be his girlfriend! And this pic of the GTC Party is really funny :-) nobody has just beautiful pics.. so it represesants his sense of humor that he allowed to publish this photo ..
