BUZZCOCKS Fast Cars
Extrait de Another Music In A Different Kitchen LP
(United Artists - 1978)

Created during the very first era of the Buzzcocks career, the one with Howard Devoto on vocals. It would be later released on another version the first album of the Manchester combo, Another Music in a Different Kitchen, a masterpiece produced by one of our heroes, Martin Rushent.

KRAFTWERK Autobahn
Extrait de Autobahn LP
(Philips - 1974)

Not their absolute masterpiece, but the first of many essential albums to come. For promoting the album, released in 1974, they took journalists for a ride in the Ruhr and played them the album in the car.

DASHIELL HEDAYAT Chrysler
Extrait de Obsolete LP
(Shandar - 1971)

A strange and beautiful song by musician Dashiell Hedayatt, who later became a famous French writer under the name of Jack-Alain Leger. The album also features William Burroughs on vocals on “Love song for Zelda”.

2 LIVE CREW Throw The D
Extrait de Is What We Are LP
(Luke Skywalker - 1986)

The Dons of booty bass. Understand : Car = Dick

ALAN VEGA Ghost Rider
Extrait de Collision Drive LP
(Ariola - 1981)

Probably the most famous Alan Vega solo album, giving his personnal interpretation of the rockabilly culture.

GINA X Drive My Car
Extrait de Drive My Car EP
(WEA - 1984)

Famous Beatles song covered by Euro funk diva Gina X in 1984

CYBOTRON Cosmic Cars
Extrait de Cosmic Cars EP
(Deep Space Records - 1982)

Some other heroes, Juan Atkins & Richard Davis. Their only album Enter Cybotron originally came out in 1983, with a few centuries in advance. Cosmic Cars is definitely one of our ever electro faves, just like Techno City.

THE CARS Drive
Extrait de Drive EP
(Elektra - 1984)

Sorry to confess that this song has always been one of my preferite FM pop song. There’s no glory about it, but is pop music about glory?

BASEMENT 5 Heavy Traffic
Extrait de In Dub EP
(Island - 1980)

Dub, Rock Guitars, the Basement 5 could be a kind of English version of the Bad Brains, produced by Martin Hanett. Heavy Traffic may not be the best track of the album, but this one is definitely a should have.

VISNADI The Racing Track (Indianapolis Drive Mix)
Extrait de Racing Tracks EP
(UMM - 1993)

Jacking Chicagoan-like Italian tune with huge samples of motor sounds, originally released on UMM in 1993, and bootlegged recently.
